Wellness & Vaccinations

Many otherwise caring, responsible pet owners fall into the dangerous trap of thinking their pet only needs to see the vet when he or she is sick or has been injured. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, if you’re not bringing your pet in for a vet visit at least once a year – regardless of whether they appear to be perfectly healthy – you could inadvertently be placing them in harm’s way.

Because companion animals age at a much faster rate than we do, it’s imperative that they receive regular physical examinations to ensure that they remain in good health. More importantly, we must closely monitor them so that any potential medical concerns that may occur can be identified and addressed right away, before they can develop into a serious problem. Disease prevention and early detection can add years to your pet’s life.

At Teller Park Veterinary Service, we offer wellness and preventative care for animals of all ages. Our wellness care is designed to address both your pet’s current health, and to monitor that health over time. The goal is to deliver the most precise and effective care possible with each and every visit, improving the chances of a long and healthy life. Whether it’s a first round of vaccinations for your new puppy or kitten, a diagnostic test to assess your adult cat or dog’s health or specialized geriatric care to help your senior pet live a more comfortable life, we’re prepared to work with you every step of the way.

One of the most important benefits of routine wellness care is the fact that these visits allow us to identify and address potential medical problems as they occur. Oftentimes a pet that appears to be in perfect health may actually be suffering from the beginning stages of an illness or disease. When we are able to catch these conditions early, we are much better prepared to treat and manage them to achieve the best possible outcome. Early detection can also save you money on your pet’s health care costs, since it’s always less expensive to address illness right away than it is to treat it once it’s had the chance to develop further.

Wellness exams at Teller Park Veterinary Service are extremely thorough. We want to make sure we cover all of our bases when it comes to keeping your pet happy and healthy. We’ll start with a complete “nose to tail” physical exam, which may even include a dental exam and cleaning if necessary. We may suggest a number of diagnostic tests to further evaluate your pet, and we’ll offer valuable recommendations about such important matters as vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition and weight management, behavior and more.

Our wellness and vaccination recommendations are based on our own training and experience, our mountain lifestyle, and the professional guidelines set forth by the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. Based on all of this information, we have developed general wellness recommendations for your four legged family members that we will customize individually, based on your pet’s lifestyle and risk of exposure.

Lastly, although equally as important, wellness visits provide the team at Teller Park Veterinary Service with the opportunity to get to know you and your pet and to develop a strong, lifelong relationship with you both. The more we come to know and understand your pet’s unique needs, the more customized and effective a health care plan we can develop.

Don’t wait until your pet becomes sick or injured to bring them in for veterinary care. By then it could be too late! Let us help your cherished animal friend enjoy a long, happy and healthy life by making a commitment to ongoing wellness care. Your four legged family member will thank you!
